Unlike other vacuums that are circular, the Neato Robotics D8 has a D shape that allows it to fit and clean in corners. If you are looking for a robot vacuum that can effectively clean the corners of the room, the Neato Robotics D8 may be for you.I'd like my life to be a black hole if I don't let you in. If the potential for abuse exists, it'll eventually be abused for fun and/or profit.
NEATO D8 INSTALL
I refuse to willingly, knowingly buy and install spy hardware in my most private areas, or anywhere for that matter. I rooted it to get rid of that crap completely. Nudged, bit I'd never feel truly safe with a camera and mic rolling around (what, I have to wear pants and watch my language in my own home 24/7/365?), and blocking it would likely break something.Īnd no, I don't have Google, Amazon, or any other 'assistant', including on my phone. I've had robovacs for 25 years, my floors are kept 'clean enough' that any items on the floor can handle getting I like to vac at about 3:30am, and don't like turning on every light in the house to do it.
LIDAR is plenty for my needs, and cameras don't.t work well in the dark. I love the self-empty, the refilling, self-cleaning mop, but potential surveillance from my vacuum? No thanks. I was going for the Roborock S7 Maxv whatever, but I don't like the camera and mic, so it's gone. If I hadn't run an old brush until it locked up and stripped everything, I'd still be running it. My D7 rocked compared to my current, shitty Shark, with shitty camera that gets stuck and lost constantly. Part of their sales pitch now, for the privacy aware, is no cameras or microphones to be hacked. Neato used to be great but now the company seems like it’s dead. Seeing the “coming Fall 2020” pop up on the site still, and an apparent MIA D9 and D10, was really sad. More so after we realized my RoboRock S4 stores everything on the bot so even with no wifi it still knows the no-go spots on the map and runs on a schedule. The app adds with no-go lines and replaces the on board scheduler.
NEATO D8 MANUAL
It has a side brush now, 2 manual suction speeds, and wifi. They’re basically the same device, just less dependable. After having an XV-11, XV-21, Botvac 75 and a D7, I realized there hasn’t been innovations. He was blown away and asked what they are like nowadays.
NEATO D8 SOFTWARE
Charge and resume! Scheduling, software updates, and it actually cleaned really well. A massive brush that cleaned to the wall! Laser mapping that kept the bot from ramming everything, it knew what rooms and doors were and didn’t miss parts of a room. Then I get into the almost incomprehensible feature set of the original XV-11. It typically cleaned very well, but was dumb, got stuck a lot, but there wasn’t a big market at the time.
NEATO D8 SERIES
So I’m explaining how my first 500 series Roomba worked, how it was blind, navigated randomly, didn’t know what rooms were, apps for vacuums didn’t exist, often couldn’t even doc itself, and all that was really ok. He’s not nerdy at all and, up until we met he hadn’t even heard of a Roomba or even knew robot vacuums were a thing.
I was talking to my bf about this after a conversation with some people on a Vacuum Wars video. I'll do my best to pass on all suggestions ahead 📷 I hope this helps you all have an insight on what we've been working on and please, don't hesitate to give us feedback so we can continue to improve. This will be especially helpful when there is a floor plan recognition error and you may have selected the 'Cancel' option. There will be an improvement to how the robot estimates its position, this will reduce issues with the return to the charging base. The LDS (laser) sensor will now reboot itself when it encounters bad signals - This fix should improve cleaning completion rates. The fixes applied should reduce incidences when the map gets skewed and also help reduce map shifts. This should also reduce any stuttering motions.Ĭhanges in how the robot's software uses its clock. What this should do is: help reduce map shifting errors (unable to return to base).
NEATO D8 UPDATE
This update is fundamental and should happen automatically, so please, make sure to allow your Neato D8 robot to complete a run and keep it connected to the charging base and network! I come bearing the news of the software update which was rolled out yesterday (V1.3.5-925) for the Neato D8 robot 📷This is only one of many updates that we're planning on pushing and we will continue to listen to feedback that you have here on Reddit and elsewhere so that we can better improve the D8 and more going forward.
